Yes, Valentine's Day does have an alternative name: Singles Awareness Day. It takes on a whole new meaning when you're in college, and constantly surrounded and bombarded with couples. Honestly, Valentine's Day has never been a point of stress for me: I don't really care at this point that I'm single. It just means I have a good reason to eat a lot of chocolate on that day. Think of it as another Halloween. Sounds good to me.
But, there are many who do not feel the same. So, two of my roommates, also single, decided they were going to carry on the tradition of the Love Suck's party. Previous, a guy in our ward had done it for the past three years, but he's no longer in the ward. So, they got flowers a couple days before the party and let them wilt, and then hung them all over the kitchen and family room. Then they got bad love quotes from movies and stuff and put them all over the walls, had music playing, had cool black lights, and a lot of really good food. It was a lot of fun. So, although not the tradition Valentine's Day full of giving little cards and candy to your sweetheart, it was still a blast to celebrate Single's Awareness Day.
